Artificial Intelligence – Augmentation not Elimination

HALITE VIEW – COMBINING HUMAN AND AI CAPABILITIES WILL UNLEASH A NEW WAVE OF PRODUCTIVITY

FROM THE MIT TECH REVIEW: Instead of just fretting about how robots and AI will eliminate jobs, we should explore new ways for humans and machines to collaborate, says Daniela Rus, director of MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL).

Extending 3D printing into injection moulding, reduces prototype development from weeks to days

HALITE VIEW: ADDITIONAL PROOF OF THE RENAISSANCE OCCURRING IN MANUFACTURING.

FROM DESIGN PRODUCTS AND APPLICATIONS: Promolding, a Dutch design and manufacturing engineering firm developed Stratays, a 3D injection moulding printer. Jeroen Gross, the lead Product Develop Manager explains: “Traditionally, injection mould development takes over six weeks to develop prototypes, but by designing and 3D printing the moulds in-house, we can produce complex versions in just three days.”

Bitcoin Adoption: Evolution or Revolution?

HALITE’S VIEW: IF THE US CAN’T HAVE RESERVE CURRENCY STATUS, THEN NO ONE CAN…

FROM AIER – If widespread use of Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency is truly in our future, some series of events will have to disrupt the status quo. Nvidia Is Aiming to Train the Next Generation of AI Experts

HALITE’S VIEW:  BUILDING THE NEXT GENERATION OF HUMAN BEINGS TRAINED IN AI IS A CRITICAL STEP TO REALIZING THE FULL POTENTIAL TO TRANSFORM OUR WORLD.

FROM THE MIT TECH REVIEW:  California-based AI chipmaker Nvidia, one of our 50 Smartest Companies of 2017, today announced an expansion of its Deep Learning Institute (DLI) aimed at curbing the lack of AI trained resources. Founded last year, the DLI aims to address the AI skills gap internationally by training up students and today’s workforce in the ways of AI—and specifically deep learning, the technique that powers today’s powerful speech and image recognition algorithms.
